Ice Plant Operator

The Town Dock is a family owned, growing business in the port of Galilee. We are the largest supplier of calamari in the United States. The Town Dock recently won two exciting awards, one for 8th Fastest Growing Private Company in 2016 and another for Overall Excellence in a Mid-Size Company in 2017. Both presented by Providence Business News.

The Town Dock is currently seeking an Ice Plant Operator.

Our Maintenance Team is responsible for maintaining and repairing Town Dock’s buildings, equipment and boats, as well as delivering ice to vendors to ensure continuous productivity within our business. We are looking to hire a person to operate our Ice Plant at the Narragansett facility.  This position reports to the Maintenance Foreman and works with a team of other Maintenance Technicians, an Electrician, and Facilities Planner.  This individual is responsible for providing quality customer service to outside vendors as well as working with other departments internally.  Responsibilities for our team of technicians includes:

  • Overall ownership of the Ice Plant.
  • Main point of contact for customers looking for ice. Responsible for customer service, maintaining a schedule, and loading boats.
  • Operate the Ice Plant at the Narragansett facility. This includes running ice production equipment, conveying equipment, scales, and boat load outs.
  • Maintain and display an accurate, organized daily and weekly ice delivery schedule based on demand and inventory.
  • Capable of performing hands on work during the slow season and leading a less experienced group during the busy season.
  • Responsible for the daily/weekly/monthly operational preventative maintenance on the ice equipment
  • Communicate equipment concerns and failures to the maintenance department.
  • Complete Daily Tons Pumped Report
  • Maintain a level of ice inventory consistent with demand from vendors
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work areas on the job
  • Maintain DOT, HACCP, OSHA and Food Safety regulations throughout maintenance responsibilities.
  • Report any safety violations to management.
  • This position is required to answer cell phone 24/7. Call-backs and/or extended hours are required when needed.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability/skill to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
  • Lockout/Tagout Training or the willingness to be trained
  • Some mechanical skills required
  • Effective customer service skills
  • Ability to work productively while unsupervised.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Possess the leadership skills to direct others during the busy times.
  • Ability to be flexible with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work extended hours, holidays, and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (min. 60 lbs.)
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and/or training on this topic.
  • Bilingual a plus

Maintenance Technician

The Town Dock is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician.

Our Maintenance Team is responsible for maintaining and repairing Town Dock’s buildings, equipment and boats to ensure continuous productivity within our business. We are looking to hire a maintenance technician who has some mechanical skills to help round out our team’s overall knowledge. This position reports to the Maintenance Foreman and works with other Maintenance Technicians, an Electrician, Facilities Planner, various company managers and employees. Responsibilities for our team of technicians includes:

  • Pallet jack and forklift maintenance
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain facilities and equipment in both Narragansett and Johnston plants
  • Plant-wide preventative maintenance as assigned
  • Complete assigned work orders within timely manner. Work orders may include mechanical work, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration, welding and minor electrical
  • Maintain DOT, HACCP, OSHA and Food Safety regulations throughout maintenance responsibilities
  • Work orders must be entered into CMMS Program (Bigfoot) on a daily basis
  • Work with contractors on assigned projects
  • Report any safety violations to management
  • Snow removal
  • Assist with the repair and maintenance of boats when necessary
  • Fish pumping as needed
  • This position is required to answer cell phone 24/7. Call backs and/or extended hours are required when needed.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Thorough mechanical knowledge and experience
  • Ability/skill to operate a forklift and pallet jack
  • Knowledge of electrical and refrigeration systems is helpful
  • Welding skills and experience are helpful
  • Lockout/Tagout Training or the willingness to be trained
  • Driver’s license required
  • Carpentry skills
  • Knowledge of DOT, HACCP and Food Safety guidelines pertaining to maintenance
  • Ability to be flexible with changing priorities
  • Ability to work extended hours, holidays, and weekends as needed.
  • Willingness to grow knowledge base in areas such as Ice Plant/Refrigeration and forklift repair
  • Ability to work productively and independently with a team.
  • Ability to work productively while unsupervised
  • Ability to be flexible and work in various environments indoors and outside
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and/or training on this topic
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Bilingual a plus
