Our team is growing, and we are looking to add an Inventory Specialist to our Production team in our Johnston, Rhode Island Facility.

In this role, this individual reports to the Operations Supervisor and is responsible for staging orders, verifying batch transfers in and out of the freezer, keeping the freezer organized and inventoried following cold storage best practices, conducting dry goods inventory, performing accurate and timely inventory reconciliations, and preparing and shipping sales samples orders on time and in full.  Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, receiving inventory, completing receiving paperwork, conducting trailer and product inspections, label printing, and order verification and palletizing.

Principal Duties

  • Keeps the freezer cleaned and organized with clear and accurate labeling
  • Collaborates with the Supply Chain team to stay current on cold storage and inventory best practices
  • Inspects incoming and outgoing trailers in partnership with the Quality team
  • Receives and verifies incoming deliveries with accurate documentation and temperature checks
  • Stages product, verifies orders, and wraps pallets to assist Production, Quality, and Logistics teams
  • Provides accurate and timely inventories of the freezer, the floor, and all dry goods
  • Conducts inventory reconciliation in partnership with the Supply Chain team
  • Prepares and ships sales samples orders on time and in full
  • Creates and prints labels as needed
  • Trains team members on tasks as needed
  • Assists Production teams in slack, juice, box making, and order packing as needed
  • Maintains and reports on the accurate inventory database in Excel and Seasoft ERP
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned 

Ideal candidate will have

  • High school diploma or demonstrated work experience
  • Self-starter with organized and detailed work habits and excellent time management skills
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks
  • Flexibility in planning to accommodate the quick changes in seafood production
  • Internal drive and initiative to complete tasks
  • Ability to work well under time constraints with competing priorities
  • Basic math skills and ability to perform calculations
  • Ability to learn Seasoft ERP process management software
  • Ability to work well in a diverse multi-lingual environment
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Physical abilities: Climb ladders, lift 60 lbs., sit at a desk, stand for long periods of time in cool temperatures and wet manufacturing environments, and work in sub-zero temperatures with appropriate freezer rated gear
  • Ability to be certified and operate forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Ability to learn Seasoft ERP process management software
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) in English required, Spanish a plus
  • Hours of operation are 7:00 am to 2:00 pm Sunday to Friday with overtime as needed

Our team is growing, and we are looking to add a Boat Unloading Associate to our Operations team.

In this role, this employee supports the Operations department with all aspects of the daily physical work of the Back Dock. Additional responsibilities include cooler or freezer work, completing job-specific paperwork, and working in Production as needed. 

Principal Duties

  • Preparing packaging and making boxes for boats using a staple machine
  • Assisting in boat offloading, shoveling ice, and lifting and palletizing 60 lb boxes of fish
  • Operating pallet jacks and forklifts safely
  • Working in a cooler loading, unloading, organizing, and labeling inventory
  • Assisting in offloading of scallop boats including, but not limited to:
    • Catching and dumping the bucket of scallop bags
    • Scraping ice off the bags of scallops
    • Weighing the bags of scallops and putting them in a cardboard vat
  • Assisting in offloading of trip boats including, but not limited to:
    • Lifting the 60 lb boxes from the front scale and side scales onto pallets
    • Correctly writing fish market names on the boxes
    • Putting the lids on the boxes
  • Assisting in offloading of day boats including, but not limited to, running a hydraulic hoist to put totes onto a conveyor belt, running the conveyer belt, and lifting totes of fish onto pallets
  • Cleaning and sanitizing the plant to standard
  • Follow all Quality Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and OSHA Safety requirements
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Secondary Duties

  • Assisting with running the squid line and sorting, boxing, and palletizing frozen inventory
  • Assisting with finished good packing and loading containers
  • Working in a freezer loading, unloading, organizing, and labeling inventory
  • Filling ice orders for boats and the plant

Ideal candidate will have

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment under time constraints
  • Physically capable of performing manual work including lifting 60 lbs repetitively, bending, walking, shoveling, climbing ladders, and standing for long periods of time indoors and outdoors in fluctuating conditions (cold, heat, wind) and wet manufacturing environments
  • Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely and effectively
  • Basic knowledge of species of fish or ability to learn
  • Ability to learn quality specifications of products
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work well in a diverse multi-lingual environment
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks to standard
  • Ability and skills to operate machinery once trained
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) in English required, Spanish a plus
  • Flexibility in planning to accommodate the quick changes in seafood production
  • Ability to work early morning and afternoon shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Must be able to display a positive and helpful attitude with peers as well as vendors

Our team is growing again, and we are looking to add a Quality Control Technician II to our Quality team. The Quality Team is responsible for the overall quality from catch to consumer for The Town Dock.

In this role, this individual reports to the Assistant Manager of Quality Assurance and is responsible for monitoring operations and ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices, for conducting product quality assessments, and completing reports and other quality and regulatory documentation.    This position primarily works out of the Narragansett and Johnston facilities with rotating coverage in New Bedford part of the year. 

Responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Pull samples of raw squid for counts, weights, and other quality control requirements
  • Thaw samples of frozen squid for counts, weights, and other quality control requirements
  • Accurately record and report on raw and frozen squid sampling results and deviations from The Town Dock specifications
  • Monitor, record, and report any deviations from FDA Good Manufacturing Practices and The Town Dock policies
  • Conduct and report daily Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) documentation, including but not limited to sanitation sheets, histamine species checks, cold storage logs, and oversee corrective actions as needed
  • Check the calibration of all temperature recording devices, scales, and metal detectors as scheduled
  • Perform and report microbiological swab testing and oversee corrective actions as needed
  • Conduct shelf life and other testing as needed on fresh and frozen squid
  • Ensure the proper storage and segregation of Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) products from non-MSC inventory and reports compliance issues
  • Support business needs related to audit preparedness, production, and other quality-related tasks
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Associates degree in a Food Science or Other Science curriculum, or work equivalent, preferred
  • 0-2 years of experience in the food industry or in a quality control role in an unrelated industry
  • Self-starter with organized and detailed work habits and excellent time management skills
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Expectation to work an on-call and rotating schedule including early morning shifts, afternoon shifts and weekends at the Johnston, Narragansett, and New Bedford facilities.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Physical abilities: Climb ladders to inspect equipment, lift 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time in cool temperatures and wet manufacturing environments
  • Flexibility in planning to accommodate the quick changes in seafood production
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) in English required, Spanish a plus
  • Basic math skills
  • A strong belief and commitment to continuous learning and improvement, positive attitude, teamwork, accountability, and ethical behavior.

Schedule:

Ability to work early morning schedule Tuesday through Saturday, and available for an on-call and rotating schedule. 

This position is eligible for a sign on bonus up to $1,000!
