Looking for a quality USA seafood? Look no further than our calamari! We offer both Longfin Inshore Squid (Doryteuthis pealeii - sometimes still called loligo squid or Boston squid) and Northern Shortfin Squid (Illex illecebrosus - sometimes called Summer squid or just illex squid).
Landed right here at our dock in Narragansett, Rhode Island, or our partners at nearby ports, our locally-caught calamari is the quality squid that foodservice professionals and grocery stores ask for by name.
Additionally, our wild-caught, product of the USA calamari are both Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified sustainable seafood. Not only does this mean that they have healthy wild populations, but they are harvested with processes that minimize impact to the environment and other sea animals.
We often get asked: which is better, Longfin or Shortfin? It is truly a personal preference. Longfin is the iconic Rhode Island calamari, caught inshore (closer to land). It has a wonderfully sweet flavor and delicate texture. Shortfin is caught in colder, deeper waters of the north Atlantic, and has a more savory flavor profile. As both are wild-caught species and our product of the USA calamari is packed as a single-species product line, contact us to discuss current volume availability.
