On March 14, 2024, some of the incredible women at The Town Dock attended the 27th annual Bryant Women's Summit, a leadership conference in Rhode Island. This annual leadership conference provides a great platform for women in Rhode Island to come together, network, and inspire one another. Our team was thrilled to be a part of this event again, surrounded by women who are making a difference in their respective fields.
The day starts with a networking breakfast, a perfect way to kick off the summit, allowing attendees to connect with like-minded individuals throughout the state. As the day unfolds, the attendees have the chance to hear from inspiring speakers, engage in valuable discussions, and gain insights into leadership and personal development.
The morning keynote speaker was Susan Packard, the co-founder of HGTV. Throughout her career, Packard had great influence in building successful media brands like HBO, CNBC, and HGTV. With her leadership skills, the market value of these brands were more than $15 billion. Packard discussed the importance of having good emotional health and how it can overall better our personal lives and our careers.
The afternoon keynote speakers was Meredith Webster, Executive Vice President, Global Communications & Public Affairs at Estée Lauder Companies Inc. Webster has leadership experience that spans from business, government, media, and philanthropy. Webster discussed the importance of having great work ethic and the confidence to try new things. Throughout her career, she's navigated through different avenues that led her to the success she has today.
The final speaker of the day was Lisa Leslie, a highly recognized basketball player from the WNBA and Team USA. Leslie had an extremely successful career overseas after college, before playing at the Olympic level and in the WNBA. In 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008, Leslie was a part of the gold-winning Team USA, the first team sport athlete to win four consecutive Olympic medals. Soon after, Leslie played for the Los Angeles Sparks for twelve seasons. Leslie discussed the importance of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. With stories from her childhood and adulthood, Leslie showed the audience that you can overcome and create change.
In between guest speakers, breakout sessions were available for attendees to review topics like financial literacy, mindful leadership, and having a career with purpose.
The women of our team who attended were truly inspired from this year's speakers, learning from different perspectives on how other women have navigated throughout their career. The Town Dock looks forward to continuing our participation in this event in the years to come!
