Town Dock Dipper Bowl I: A Game-Day Showdown of Dips!

When The Town Dock Engagement Committee was looking for a fun February event, they landed on a friendly and delicious competition: the inaugural Town Dock Dipper Bowl! This event which was held a few days before Super Bowl LVIII, you had better believe that Town Dockers huddled and set their game plan for the event. The challenge was simple: bring your best dip – squid was optional, but flavor was a must. Plus, all employees were welcome to come and vote regardless of providing a dip - and so they did.

It was a wet and windy day, but a good number of Town Dockers arrived in our HR office gathering space ready to sample, savor, and vote for their favorite.  Competition was strong with a great lineup of creative dips including:

  • Maria’s spicy green chili pepper sauce (this had a real kick!)
  • Elvira’s mild avocado green sauce with chips and pork rinds
  • Candelaria’s tomato-based sauce with chips
  • Holly C.’s veggie dip
  • Joana’s Mexican Street Corn dip
  • Maggie’s BLT dip with an additional sweet treat to sample, a Cannoli Dip
  • Melanie’s Pimento cheese
  • Holly B.’s Cowboy Caviar
  • AnneMarie’s Trader Joe’s Special

There could, however, only be one champion in this fierce competition.  After a couple of hours of sampling, mingling and conferring, Team Town Dock voted the championship title and MVP to Joana Ortega with her Mexican Street Corn dip which was accompanied by her home-made tortilla chips – the definitive crowd favorite.  Joana’s prize was a gift certificate to Stop&Shop. 

There only remains one question, will Joana return to defend her title in the Town Dock Dipper Bowl II next year to become a two-time winner? A hearty congratulations to Joana and a big thank you to everyone who participated in this tasty event!
