who is behind the town dock?

In 1980, Noah Clark’s music career was not going as planned. He decided that, until the band made it big, he would clean fish to support his family. 

More than 40 years later, what started at the town’s public dock in Wickford, Rhode Island, is The Town Dock, a name known around the world for the very best seafood We moved a little ways down the road and unload vessels every day at our docks in the Port of Galilee, on Point Judith, in Narragansett, Rhode Island. We’re still a family-owned company, now in its second generation with Noah’s son, Ryan, The Town Dock’s President & CEO. 

The Town Dock is recognized around the world for our quality seafood—especially our calamari. 

Since the beginning, The Town Dock has been a vertically integrated company, partnering with a dedicated fleet of fishing vessels, local fishermen, and global suppliers. With the squid boom in the late 1990s, we were perfectly positioned to become a market leader in calamari; the Longfin Inshore Squid caught right in and around Rhode Island is still considered the best-tasting squid in the world. Both foodservice customers and retail consumers look for Rhode Island Calamari® by name. 

We are a major employer in the Port of Galilee and an important part of Rhode Island's economically-vital commercial fishing industry. 

But we’re more than that, too: since 2018, year after year, we’ve been named one of Rhode Island’s Best Places to Work. Our company has core values that we live by; we put the values into actions like our charitable giving, ethical supply chain policies, stringent quality standards, and annual employee appreciation month full of games and give-aways for the people who make The Town Dock great.

We strive to do the right thing, and for more than 40 years, we’ve been holding squid, seafood - and ourselves - to a higher standard.

I started out in the seafood industry as a fish cutter in Point Judith, Rhode Island in 1965. I have seen many changes in the seafood industry since then! In 1980, I started The Town Dock in Wickford, Rhode Island. We saw the potential in squid, and we moved to Point Judith as the company grew.

More than 40 years later, we are still a family-owned company and we still pride ourselves on our honesty and integrity. My goal then and our goal now is provide our customers with the highest quality product and service you can’t find anywhere else. We hold ourselves to a higher standard every day.

Where We Are

The Town Dock is located right on the water in the historic Port of Galilee, on Point Judith, in Narragansett, Rhode Island. 

Please note that we are a wholesaler, and our facilities do not offer retail purchases. We are a working dock and manufacturing plant and are not open to the public. 

You can contact our foodservice team for wholesale inquiries or use our grocery store finder to purchase our product in a grocery store nationwide.
