Recipe: Calamari Steak Burger
Sink your teeth into a delicious Calamari Steak Burger!
Not sure what a calamari steak is? Our calamari steaks are the same mantle meat as a calamari ring, but from a much larger Peruvian Jumbo Squid. Because of the larger size of Jumbo squid, the steaks are cut to size. They are very tender, and tend to have slightly less chewiness than typical calamari. Anyone who enjoys either calamari or a classic whitefish should give calamari steaks a try.
For this simple recipe, we swap the classic all-American beef burger for a heart-healthy calamari steak - high in protein, low in fat, and adding omega-3 fatty acids to the meal. This calamari steak is marinated for 30 minutes to soak up the flavors of lemon, garlic, and basil, and then are grilled. We make our own tartar-style sauce complements the mild flavor of the calamari steaks, but feel free to go a different direction if you prefer. The mild flavor of our calamari steaks work with almost any cuisine.
